‘Take it easy on me, I’m sorry’ — Real Warri Pikin reacts after viral Timaya stage moment

Award-winning comedian Real Warri Pikin has called for understanding from the Nigerian public following a viral incident with musician Timaya during the 2026 AFRIMMA Awards in Dallas, Texas.
Real Warri Pikin, who received the Best Stand-Up Comedian accolade at the event, addressed the situation in a video after social media clips emerged showing Timaya lifting her during a performance.
In her explanation, the comedian revealed that Timaya had invited a woman from the audience to join him on stage. Although initially hesitant to participate, she ultimately agreed after Timaya reassured her that everything would be fine.
However, she admitted that the moment became uncomfortable when Timaya unexpectedly lifted her in front of attendees. While the audience at the event found the interaction amusing, reactions on social media varied, with some critics accusing her of overstepping boundaries.
“Make una take am easy, I beg. I’m sorry. I take full responsibility of my actions,” she stated in her video.
Real Warri Pikin pointed out that much of the criticism stemmed from misconceptions about her character and values. She emphasized that the incident should not serve as a reflection of her personality.
“I understand where una dey come from. Maybe some people are just genuinely concerned,” she said, requesting that Nigerians refrain from being overly harsh in their judgment.
The comedian further clarified that she did not intend to disrespect her husband or engage in any inappropriate behavior, describing the incident as a mere awkward moment during a live performance.
