The Flotilla Diaries: Inside the 2025 mission to break the Gaza siege | Documentary

Filmmakers Document Efforts to Alleviate Gaza’s Humanitarian Crisis

May 12, 2026 – A flotilla comprising 50 civilian vessels has set sail from Barcelona, Tunis, and Sicily with the intention of breaking the blockade on Gaza. Known as the Global Sumud Flotilla, the mission aims to deliver urgent humanitarian aid and establish a corridor for assistance into the region.

Among those onboard are two filmmakers: Carlos Perez from Mexico, who is traveling on the vessel Hio, and Juliet Lamont from Australia, aboard the Wahoo. Their voyage has been marked by significant challenges as they approach Gaza, with Israeli officials warning of an active combat zone in the area. Nevertheless, the flotilla continues its journey.

As the flotilla advances, it encounters aggressive tactics, including the use of water cannons. Reports indicate that vessels have disappeared from radar and crews have been detained. Through the accounts of Perez and Lamont, the realities of intimidation and abuse faced by those aboard come to light.

The experiences of the filmmakers will be featured in a documentary titled “The Flotilla Diaries,” directed by Dasa Raimanova. The project aims to shed light on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the efforts of those attempting to assist.
