Bauchi Police Arrest Three in Connection to Fatality at Naming Ceremony

KIRFI, Bauchi State — The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended three suspects linked to the death of a 27-year-old man following a violent altercation at a naming ceremony in Kirfi Local Government Area. The arrests were confirmed by SP Nafiu Habib, the command’s spokesperson, in a statement released on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on June 25, 2026, when a confrontation erupted between youth from the Dosi and Tudun Sullubawa communities during the celebration. The victim, identified as Sani Abacha Alhaji Jabbi, sustained serious injuries from what police described as a machete attack.

He was transported to the Federal Teaching Hospital in Gombe, where he was later pronounced dead.

Following an investigation, police detained three suspects aged 18, 17, and 16. Preliminary investigations have concluded, and the case has been forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inquiry and prosecution.

The police have assured the community of their commitment to ensuring justice is served and encouraged the public to seek peaceful resolutions to disputes. Residents are also urged to cooperate with law enforcement by sharing any information that may assist in preventing acts of violence.
