Tinubu: ‘If you tackle us, we will Asiwaju you’ – Umahi warns Obidient Movement
Minister of Works Issues Warning to Obidient Movement Members
LAGOS — Dave Umahi, Nigeria’s Minister of Works, has issued a stern warning to members of the Obidient Movement who he claims are attempting to undermine the initiatives of President Bola Tinubu.
Addressing the issue during a media briefing in Lagos, Umahi criticized what he described as a coordinated effort by some individuals to diminish President Tinubu’s accomplishments. “We will not allow this,” he stated, emphasizing his intent to respond firmly to the criticisms directed at the president.
“We sharpen our mouths, they tackle us, we tackle them,” Umahi said, referencing a back-and-forth between political factions. He further challenged critics to demonstrate their achievements, specifically addressing claims made about former Governor Peter Obi’s financial legacy. “Someone told me that Peter Obi left $50 million, but I reminded him that while that amount was reported, it did not account for the contractors left unpaid,” Umahi explained.
He illustrated his point with a biblical analogy of a wealthy man who entrusted his servants with money to invest. “You can’t be saving when the people are hungry and when there is no industry,” Umahi concluded, advocating for active investment in the nation’s economy.
This statement reflects ongoing tensions in the Nigerian political landscape, particularly related to varying perceptions of governance and fiscal responsibility among different political factions.
