Transfer: Atletico Madrid reject offer to sign Osimhen from Galatasaray
Atletico Madrid Rejects Offer for Victor Osimhen
Atletico Madrid has declined an opportunity to acquire Nigerian international Victor Osimhen from Galatasaray, despite a reported transfer fee of €75 million. The news was first reported by Club Uria and later confirmed by Goal.
Osimhen, 27, reportedly indicated a willingness to take a pay cut to join Atletico, where he would play under coach Diego Simeone. However, the Spanish club officially turned down the offer.
Sources indicate that Galatasaray approached Atletico through intermediaries regarding the potential transfer. Despite the substantial fee associated with the deal, Atletico’s management stated they currently lack the financial resources necessary to complete such a transaction during the ongoing transfer window.
Atletico Madrid is satisfied with Julian Alvarez, who occupies the central forward position in the squad. The management has expressed full commitment to Alvarez and has no plans to consider selling him, making Osimhen’s addition unnecessary.
Osimhen is under contract with Galatasaray until 2029, and his willingness to reduce his salary highlights his interest in the move to Atletico. Despite the forward’s enthusiasm for the opportunity, Atletico remains committed to its decision not to pursue the €75 million transfer.
