Troops kill 18 terrorists, recover weapons in Borno

Nigerian Troops Kill 18 Suspected Terrorists in Borno State Operations
Nigerian military forces engaged in Operation Hadin Kai have reported the deaths of 18 suspected terrorists during recent operations in Borno State, according to a statement from the joint task force spokesperson, Lt. Col. Sani Uba.
The operations were conducted in two locations: Bulabulin Forest and the Timbuktu axis. Uba specified that 11 terrorists were killed in Bulabulin, while seven were reported dead in the Timbuktu area.
Ground troops collaborated with the Air Force in these missions. In Bulabulin Forest, soldiers targeted several terrorist hideouts in various villages, including Mar, Subdu, Yaro Lawanti, and Yaro Shuwari. Uba noted that the troops engaged in a firefight with militants in Malam Shiri village, aided by air support.
“They used a well-coordinated strategy to defeat the terrorists, killing 11 and forcing others to flee with injuries,” Uba said.
Following the confrontations, military personnel destroyed terrorist camps and seized a cache of weapons, including nine AK-47 rifles, three heavy machine guns, five motorcycles, and materials used for explosive devices.
In a parallel operation along the Wajiroko-Sabongari route in the Timbuktu axis, troops clashed with militants again, resulting in the deaths of seven terrorists. Uba observed indications that additional insurgents may have been injured or killed during the encounter.
Recovered items from the Timbuktu area included rifles, rocket-propelled grenade tubes, ammunition, and communication equipment.
The military commended the Air Force for its crucial role in providing surveillance and executing targeted air strikes that contributed to the success of ground troops. Uba indicated that further air assaults were conducted on known terrorist positions and fleeing militants, leading to additional losses among the insurgents.
