Troops neutralise suspected terrorist, recover four motorcycles in Katsina

Troops from Operation FANSAN YAMMA neutralized one suspected terrorist and recovered several items, including four motorcycles, during an operation in Katsina State.

The operation occurred at dawn on September 4, 2026, in the Yantumaki Forest area of the Dan Musa Local Government Area. Acting on credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists, forces from Sector 1 of the Joint Task Force North West executed a coordinated offensive against the group.

Engagement with the terrorists featured sustained firepower, compelling them to abandon their positions and flee into surrounding brush. Following the assault, troops confirmed the neutralization of one terrorist. In addition to the motorcycles, a mobile phone and five empty intravenous drip containers were also recovered.

Military officials suspect the IV drip containers may have been used to treat injured militants, indicating that the terrorist group may have been addressing casualties from previous operations.

This achievement marks a continuation of efforts by Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist networks and diminish their operational capabilities in the Joint Operations Area. The theater command has urged the public to provide security agencies with credible and timely information to aid in locating and dismantling terrorist operations in the region.

As military activities persist across North-West Nigeria, the recovery of these motorcycles and other materials is anticipated to enhance tracking efforts related to the logistics and movements of terrorist groups in the forested areas of Katsina.
