Troops rescue 49 Kano travellers from suspected kidnappers in Zamfara
Troops from Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully rescued 49 travelers from Kano State on Tuesday. The group was returning from a Maulud celebration in Senegal when they fell victim to an attempted kidnapping in Zamfara State.
The incident occurred when the travelers’ vehicle reportedly suffered a breakdown while navigating through the area, making them vulnerable to attack by suspected kidnappers.
According to a post on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama, military personnel responded swiftly to the situation, leading to the safe recovery of all individuals involved.
Following the rescue, the travelers were handed over to Malam Garba Shehu Fanchers, the Chairman of the Tsafe Local Government Area. They received immediate welfare and medical assessments that same evening.
Local government authorities are working to facilitate the travelers’ safe return and reunification with their families following necessary health checks.
