Nigerian Troops Rescue Six Individuals in Ongoing Operation to Recover Abducted Students
Headquarters of the Joint Task Force North East, involved in Operation HADIN KAI, announced a significant development in its current search and rescue mission aimed at recovering the abducted students from Government Day Secondary School in Lassa.
In a statement, Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer at the Joint Task Force, reported that troops conducted a series of air and ground operations supported by reliable intelligence. This led to the successful rescue of six individuals, including four adults and two infants, in Talakawa, a region within the Chibok Local Government Area.
These individuals had been abducted in May from Mussa in the Askira/Uba Local Government Area. Following their rescue, they were transported to a secure facility where they are undergoing medical evaluations and receiving necessary care.
The statement further detailed that Operation HADIN KAI has provided immediate relief supplies and essential items to support the victims as they begin to recover from their traumatic experiences. The operation also aims to facilitate their reunification with family members.
“This recent achievement underscores the effectiveness of the coordinated search and rescue operations conducted by Operation HADIN KAI, reaffirming the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Borno State Government, security agencies, and auxiliary forces to the safe recovery of all abducted individuals,” the statement read.
Additionally, the troops are actively pursuing fleeing terrorists, intensifying pressure along known escape routes to limit their operational capabilities. In the course of this pursuit, armed forces recovered 50 rounds of PKT ammunition abandoned by the insurgents, highlighting the ongoing pressure faced by the attackers during their withdrawal.
