Six Kidnapped Victims Rescued in Plateau State Operations

WASE, Plateau State — Six individuals kidnapped earlier this month were rescued by troops from Sector 2 of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) during encounters with suspected terrorists in Wase Local Government Area on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

The rescues occurred around noon when troops stationed at Kukawa responded to reports of suspected terrorist movements toward Wanka Village. Security analyst Zagazola Makama noted that the troops’ swift action compelled the assailants to flee on motorcycles.

In a subsequent search of the area, troops discovered two victims abandoned by the fleeing terrorists. They were identified as 14-year-old Muhammed Jibo and 12-year-old Muhammed Yahaya, who stated they had been kidnapped on September 6 while en route to visit their father at a farm in the nearby Dadin Kowa Village.

Later on the same day, at approximately 11 a.m., troops on patrol from Yuli made contact with suspected terrorists on the outskirts of Yuli Village. During this encounter, the assailants abandoned four more victims and retreated into the forest. The rescued individuals were identified as Yakubu Yahaya, 25; Yahuza Dapji, 22; Yahaya Jibo, 20; and Sani Abubakar, 18, also from Dadin Kowa Village.

The captured victims were subsequently handed over to the Village Head of Yuli for further assistance.
