‘Truth will surely come out, wrong person imprisoned’ – Simon Ekpa

Self-Proclaimed Biafran Leader Optimistic About Appeal
Simon Ekpa, self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE), expressed confidence that his recent sentencing by a Finnish court will be overturned.
On September 1, 2025, Ekpa was sentenced to six years in prison after being convicted of terrorism-related offenses linked to violent incidents in southeastern Nigeria.
During an appeal hearing on Thursday, Ekpa spoke with supporters and maintained that he is not guilty. “I’m very confident that the truth is going to come out. They will know that the wrong person has been imprisoned,” he stated, suggesting that the circumstances leading to his conviction will ultimately be clarified.
As the appeal process unfolds, his case remains a focal point for discussions among Biafra agitators.
