The United States Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos will close on Friday, July 3, 2026, to observe U.S. Independence Day.
The announcement was made via the official social media channels of the U.S. mission on Thursday.
Independence Day, commonly referred to as the Fourth of July, is celebrated annually on July 4. The holiday commemorates the adoption of the United States Declaration of Independence in 1776, when the thirteen American colonies declared their independence from Great Britain.
