VeryDarkMan: DeeOne attacks IGP Disu over alleged refusal to arrest activist

Nigerian comedian and social media influencer Aderombi Adedayo Martins, widely known as DeeOne, has publicly criticized Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tunji Disu for allegedly protecting his fellow influencer VeryDarkMan from arrest. DeeOne voiced his concerns in an Instagram video posted Tuesday, responding to claims that the police have not acted to detain VeryDarkMan after he declined to comply with a police summons.

DeeOne highlighted discrepancies in the treatment of individuals accused of ignoring police invites, comparing VeryDarkMan’s situation to the arrests of fellow social media personalities Blord and Tacha. He emphasized that all citizens should be subject to the law equally.

In his remarks, DeeOne accused IGP Disu of failing to fulfill his duties, stating, “What is good for a citizen is also good for all citizens.” He referenced the swift arrest of Tacha, a former contestant on Big Brother Naija, who was detained after failing to respond to police invitations on two occasions. DeeOne recounted similar circumstances surrounding the arrest of Blord, who was reportedly detained for not attending a scheduled police meeting.

DeeOne’s video contended that VeryDarkMan has ignored police summons twice but has not faced consequences for his actions. “The information reaching us is that they are going to change you very soon,” DeeOne warned IGP Disu, urging accountability within the police force.

He continued, “The person that is holding the arrest now is IGP Tunji Disu. So, Nigerians, is this man working for Nigerians or working for VeryDarkMan?” DeeOne asserted his resolve, saying that he would remain vocal on the matter and could address other issues related to the IGP’s performance if necessary.

Previously, VeryDarkMan indicated on his platform that he has no intention of honoring the police’s invitation to speak, following allegations he made against Assistant Inspector-General of Police Jimoh Moshood.
