Cameroon Defender Confident Ahead of WAFCON Quarter-Final Against Nigeria
CASABLANCA, Morocco — Colette Ndzana, a defender for the Cameroon women’s national football team, expressed confidence in her team’s preparedness for their quarter-final match against Nigeria in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The match is set to take place tonight at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca. This will mark the 14th meeting between the two teams in WAFCON history.
The Super Falcons of Nigeria have historically dominated this rivalry, securing nine victories in regular play and two more through penalty shootouts. Cameroon has managed only one win, with an additional match ending in a draw.
In their last encounter during the quarter-finals of the 2022 tournament, Nigeria edged out Cameroon with a narrow 1-0 victory.
Ndzana stated the team’s intention to overcome their recent struggles against the Super Falcons, saying, “We want to break any existing barriers. We shall remain focused. We know that this is a quarter-final.”
Speaking to CAFonline, she added, “We are going into it with a great deal of humility.”
