Flying Eagles Prepare for Semifinal Match Against Côte d’Ivoire
YAMOUSSOUKRO, Côte d’Ivoire – Flying Eagles head coach Abdu Maikaba has vowed to enhance his team’s performance ahead of their semifinal clash with the hosts, Côte d’Ivoire, at the WAFU B U-20 Championship on Wednesday.
Nigeria, the reigning champions, missed the opportunity to secure the top position in Group B, following a 2-0 loss to Burkina Faso in their final group match on Sunday.
The Flying Eagles now face a formidable Côte d’Ivoire squad, which won all three of its group matches without conceding a single goal in the tournament.
In a media briefing on Tuesday, Maikaba emphasized the need for his team to address their recent defensive issues. “We need to improve our defensive approach. In our last game against Burkina Faso, we conceded two goals from similar situations, and we are not happy about that,” he stated.
The upcoming match is regarded as a crucial challenge for Nigeria as they aim to reclaim their competitive edge in the tournament.
