Why I rejected political offers that could have made me billionaire — Omotola Jalade

Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde recently discussed her decision to decline multiple lucrative opportunities, including political offers, that could have positioned her as a billionaire.
In an episode of the Afropolitan podcast, Jalade-Ekeinde stated that she turned down these opportunities in order to uphold her core principles. While she acknowledged that some of the offers were not inherently negative, they posed a risk of compromising her values and the integrity of her public persona.
“If I wanted to be a billionaire, I would have become one easily,” she said. “I have been in situations where I could have accepted offers without anyone knowing, but I chose to walk away. This has happened many times, including in politics.”
Jalade-Ekeinde emphasized that despite the financial allure of these opportunities, she felt it was critical to maintain her foundational beliefs. “Sometimes, I am tempted to compromise because the options don’t appear harmful, but I ultimately decide to decline. Accepting them could dilute my message,” she explained.
She also mentioned that when she foregoes significant financial opportunities, she often experiences what she referred to as a “financial miracle,” suggesting that her decisions align with her values and may lead to unexpected rewards in other forms.
