NYSC Reports Absconding Cases During Passing-Out Ceremony in Osun State
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) reported that 18 corps members from the 2025 Batch B Stream 1 absconded during their year-long mandatory service in Osun State.
This announcement came from Osun State NYSC Coordinator Ekeng Ita Kubiangha, who made the disclosure during an inspection tour across Obokun, Ilesa East, and Ilesa West local government areas on Thursday. The tour was aimed at overseeing the streamlined Passing-Out Ceremony.
Kubiangha noted that the service period for 11 corps members was extended due to various infractions, in line with the NYSC Bye-Laws.
During the ceremony, the coordinator confirmed that a total of 1,702 corps members successfully completed their national service, receiving their Certificates of National Service. He emphasized that the passing-out events were held simultaneously across all 30 local government areas and the Area Office in Osun State.
“A total of 1,702 corps members successfully completed the National Service and were issued their Certificates of National Service,” Kubiangha stated. “Eighteen corps members absconded during the service year, while the service of 11 others was extended for various infractions.”
Kubiangha, accompanied by members of the State Management Team and National Directorate Headquarters Monitoring Officer Peter Okpanachi, expressed enthusiasm for the achievements of the corps members. He referred to the completion of the service year as a significant milestone and thanked the Almighty for the safety of all participants throughout the program.
He encouraged the outgoing corps members to uphold integrity, determination, and excellence as they transition into their next career stages. “The Certificate of National Service should serve as a foundation for building successful and impactful careers through hard work, innovation, resilience, and discipline,” he added.
Kubiangha urged them to be worthy ambassadors of the NYSC, championing patriotism, honesty, selfless service, and good character in their future endeavors. He advised them to remain law-abiding citizens and contribute positively to national development.
As part of the ceremony, eligible corps members received their Certificates of National Service, while commendations were given to outstanding Corps Liaison Officers in recognition of their leadership and service during the year.
Concluding the event, Kubiangha offered prayers for the departing corps members, expressing confidence in their future successes as they strive to make meaningful contributions to society.
