Terrorists planning attacks on worship centres, schools, NYSC camps – Police
The Nigerian Police Force has placed all formations nationwide on high alert following intelligence reports of potential terror attacks targeting worship centers, educational institutions, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camps, and other public venues across the country.
According to Premium Times, police officials indicated that intelligence had detected the movement of armed groups traveling from Katsina through Kaduna toward Plateau State.
This heightened security measure comes in response to fresh information suggesting the increased mobilization of terrorist factions to carry out coordinated attacks on vulnerable locations.
In light of these findings, the police high command issued an operational order aimed at preemptively addressing the threats posed by these criminal elements.
The operational directive, as reported by Premium Times, is documented in a police wireless communication dated September 13, 2026, referenced CB: 0900/FDPS/DOPS/FHQ/ABJ/VOL38/68. This message was disseminated by the Nigeria Police Force Department of Operations based in Abuja and marked “Security General” with a label “Treat as Very Important.”
The communication was forwarded to Assistant Inspectors-General of Police managing Zones 1 through 17, as well as specialized units, including Mobile Police and counter-terrorism forces. It also reached the Commissioners of Police in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The message emphasized that available intelligence points to an organized effort of extremist groups preparing for possible attacks on places of worship, schools, NYSC orientation camps, and other susceptible targets.
As of this report, attempts to contact Force Spokesperson CSP Ani Iniedu for a comment on the situation were unsuccessful; the individual who answered the phone indicated they would return the call shortly.
