35-year-old man stabbed to death in Niger, nine arrested

Nine Suspects Arrested in Stabbing Death of Minna Man
MINNA, Niger State — The Niger State Police Command has taken nine individuals into custody in connection with the stabbing death of 35-year-old Nafiu Mohammed in the Maitumbi area of Minna.
Mohammed, a resident of Sabon-Titi in Maitumbi, was attacked on August 25, 2026, according to police reports. His injuries were so severe that he succumbed to them shortly after being transported to a local medical facility.
Police Public Relations Officer SP Wasiu Abiodun stated that officers from the Maitumbi Division quickly responded to the scene. Following the incident, tactical teams were deployed to the area, resulting in the apprehension of six suspects: Emmanuel Moses, 25; Lukman Mohammed, 25; Abdullahi Mohammed, 19; Sani Ibrahim, 18; Abdullahi Yusuf, 22, known as Challo; and Adamu Isyaku, 20. Sani Ibrahim was reportedly found in possession of a long cutlass.
During the investigation, the suspects identified another individual, Muhammad Sani, as allegedly responsible for Mohammed’s death. Police are actively working to locate him.
The six suspects are currently detained for questioning regarding their alleged involvement in criminal conspiracy and thuggery, as confirmed by the police command.
In a separate operation conducted the same day, police raided areas along the Maitumbi-Gwada Road, leading to the arrest of three additional suspects: Nura Murtala, 19; Idris Aliyu, 19; and Haruna Ibrahim, 21, all residents of Saiko. Authorities discovered items including suspected cannabis, a cutlass, four scissors, and shisha pipes with pots in their possession.
The police have indicated that all suspects will face charges in court following the completion of their investigations.
