Al-Noor Center in Gaza Faces Increased Demand for Support Amid Ongoing Conflict
Published: April 18, 2026
The Al-Noor Center, operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), has provided education and support to visually impaired children in Gaza since its establishment in 1962. However, the ongoing conflict has intensified pressure on the facility. Since the escalation of violence in 2023, more than 1,500 individuals have reportedly lost their eyesight due to the war.
As the center continues to serve its community, the increased number of visually impaired children presents significant challenges for staff and resources. The Al-Noor Center’s programs aim to provide essential educational tools and support to help these children navigate their circumstances.
UNRWA’s efforts highlight the urgent need for continued assistance and funding, as the center strives to accommodate a growing population of children affected by the conflict in the region. The local and international community is being called upon to support these initiatives to ensure the well-being of the affected youth.
