Police arrest suspect over alleged N630,000 robbery in Yobe


The Yobe State Police Command has apprehended a 32-year-old man, Auwal Mallam Ari, in connection with the alleged robbery of 630,000 naira from two individuals in Goneri, located in the Yunusari Local Government Area.

Public Relations Officer ASP Yusuf Adamu Aliyu reported the arrest in a statement issued on Tuesday.

According to Aliyu, the State Criminal Investigation Department in Damaturu received a complaint on August 16, 2026, from Goni Abdullahi of Baimari. Abdullahi reported receiving threatening phone calls and the unlawful seizure of 130,000 naira.

Police investigations subsequently led to Ari’s arrest, during which he reportedly confessed to the crime. He further revealed that he and his accomplices had previously stolen 500,000 naira from another victim, identified as Malam Alarama, another Goneri resident.

Ari named one Audu Baimari as the alleged leader of the group, although authorities reported that Baimari remains at large. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend him.
