Kaduna Authorities Arrest Suspected Terrorist Amid Bandit Infighting
Kaduna State authorities have apprehended a suspect believed to be connected to terrorist activities, coinciding with reports of violent clashes among rival bandit factions in the area.
The arrest occurred on April 16, 2026, at approximately 6:45 p.m. at the Forward Operating Base in Afaka, located in the Igabi Local Government Area. Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the information in a post on X, citing military sources.
Initial reports indicate that the suspect fled a terrorist enclave in Sabon Birni following violent confrontations between two notorious bandit leaders, identified as Dogo Gide and Kabiru. The ongoing fighting is concentrated along the Kachia–Kagarko–Chikun corridor, a region frequently plagued by security issues.
The suspect is currently in custody while investigations proceed. A source involved in the operations stated, “We are working to verify the claims made by the suspect and gather actionable intelligence on the structure and movements of these groups.”
Additionally, sources suggest that the internal conflicts among the factions could indicate a decline in their organizational cohesion. “The clashes point to cracks within the networks, and this could be leveraged to disrupt their operations more effectively,” the source explained.
