Three die in Ekiti hotel during post-convocation night party

Three Dead Following Post-Convocation Party in Ikere-Ekiti
IKERE-EKITI, Nigeria — Three individuals lost their lives during a post-convocation party in Ikere-Ekiti, the headquarters of the Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State, on Saturday night.
The incident occurred at a well-known hotel, where recent graduates gathered to celebrate the second convocation ceremony of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI).
According to eyewitnesses, the initially festive atmosphere shifted to turmoil when a disagreement among some attendees escalated into violence. As panic ensued, many guests rushed to flee the hotel, leading to a stampede.
Local sources reported that two of the fatalities resulted from the stampede, while one individual was attacked during the violence. Among the deceased was a recent graduate who had participated in the convocation earlier that day.
The tragedy deepened with reports indicating that two of the victims were siblings, prompting profound grief within their family and the local community.
