Troops launch clearance operation in Borno, target insurgents’ enclaves

Troops Conduct Clearance Operation in Borno State
Borno State, Nigeria — Troops from Operation Hadin Kai launched a clearance operation targeting suspected insurgent locations in the Kaga Local Government Area. The operation, conducted on April 19, was informed by security assessments and was detailed by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a social media post on Monday.
Approximately 1000 hours, soldiers from the 29 Task Force Brigade collaborated with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) to engage in the mission. The troops utilized Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles, Armoured Personnel Carriers, and gun trucks, advancing through key routes, including Qwayari, Karnakasari, the Camel Route, and the Mainok axis.
The objective of the operation was to eliminate Boko Haram enclaves and restrict insurgents’ movement in the region. However, military sources reported that no contact with insurgent forces occurred during the operation, which remains ongoing.
Military officials indicated that this effort is part of a broader campaign of sustained clearance and dominance operations throughout the North-East. They noted that while the security situation in the region is described as calm yet unpredictable, troop morale and operational readiness remain high.
This operation coincides with a series of recent attacks attributed to Boko Haram and ISWAP militants in the North-East.
