Sharon Adeleke Credits Davido with Transforming Nigeria’s Music Scene

Sharon Adeleke, sister of renowned Afrobeats artist David Adeleke, known as Davido, has stated that her brother’s style introduced a new level of luxury and flamboyance to the Nigerian music industry.

Her remarks came during Davido’s Apple Radio live takeover, where he celebrated 15 years in music with family and friends.

“I think that David is one of the people that started all this being flashy and showing off and making it cool in Nigeria,” Sharon Adeleke said.

In response, Davido noted, “When we came to Nigeria, Mo’ Hits did it with like having a crew, but you see how in America, every successful musician has a crew, his guys and all that.”

Sharon reiterated her point, stating, “You brought that. Nobody used to do that.”

Davido has often expressed his admiration for the now-defunct Mo’Hits label, led by Don Jazzy and D’banj. He has previously shared how spending time at their mansion inspired him to pursue a career in music, especially after he defied his father’s wishes to focus on music instead of his studies.
