Nigerian Army Reports Successes Against Terrorism

The Nigerian Army announced significant operational successes across multiple regions in the last 24 hours, highlighting the disruption of terrorist logistics networks and engagements with hostile groups. These efforts were driven by coordinated intelligence operations aimed at safeguarding vulnerable communities.

In the North-East Theatre, soldiers from the 192 Battalion successfully ambushed suspected members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) near Kuranabassa Village in Borno State’s Gwoza Local Government Area. The operation resulted in the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine containing 12 rounds of ammunition, and other assorted items.

In another operation, troops from the 27 Task Force Brigade, together with the Civilian Joint Task Force, intercepted three vehicles suspected of transporting terrorist logistics along the Yunusari–Bukarti–Kala/Gamari route. This operation led to the arrest of five individuals and the recovery of various logistical items, including solar panels, water pumps, construction materials, mobile phones, and cash.

Additionally, soldiers from the 12 Brigade conducted a checkpoint operation along the Obajana–Kabba Road in Kogi State, where they seized a vehicle carrying purported terrorist supplies. This operation resulted in the apprehension of two suspects and the recovery of 314 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, AK-47 magazines, mobile phones, and identification documents.

In the North-West Theatre, troops from the 17 Brigade carried out offensive clearance operations targeting identified terrorist enclaves in the Musawa and Matazu Local Government Areas of Katsina State. During these missions, they identified and destroyed several life-support structures used by insurgents in numerous villages, thereby disrupting the operational capabilities of these criminal groups.

In Plateau State, members of Operation ENDURING PEACE swiftly responded to distress calls and successfully rescued 12 civilians trapped by insurgents, while injured individuals were evacuated for medical care.

Operational pressure on criminal networks also continued in the South-South and North-Central regions. In Rivers State, troops discovered and safely collected approximately 3,250 liters of suspected illegally refined petroleum products along Refinery Road in the Eleme Local Government Area. Meanwhile, in Taraba State, soldiers from the 114 Battalion captured nine individuals suspected of being informants for a known criminal kingpin and dismantled hideouts used for coordinating their activities.
