Military eliminates over 30 ISWAP terrorists in Borno

Nigerian Military Neutralizes Over 30 ISWAP Terrorists in Borno State
The Nigerian military has successfully neutralized more than 30 terrorists affiliated with the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a series of targeted air operations in the Lake Chad region of Borno State.
This information was shared on X by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert specializing in the Lake Chad area. According to Makama, the operations were carried out in response to credible intelligence derived from reconnaissance efforts that indicated increased terrorist activity associated with logistics operations via waterways near Kaniram Island.
Reports indicate that an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform was deployed to monitor the area, which identified approximately 31 boats along the riverbank, all linked to ISWAP fighters. Following positive identification, the air component executed precision strikes in accordance with established rules of engagement and targeting protocols.
The first strike was aimed at disrupting the operations of the terrorist group, damaging several boats used for transportation and supply across the waterways. Subsequent ISR monitoring indicated attempts by the terrorists to regroup in nearby vegetation, prompting additional airstrikes.
A second precision strike targeted a group of eight terrorists, effectively neutralizing them, while other elements were observed retreating into concealed positions. A third strike subsequently targeted another contingent of about 15 terrorists hiding beneath tree foliage, resulting in their elimination.
Battle Damage Assessment reported significant attrition among the terrorists, with remaining individuals observed fleeing from nearby hideouts.
