Insecurity: Ensure all bandits are eliminated – Sani charges Nigerian troops

Public Affairs Analyst Urges Military Action Against Insecurity in Northern Nigeria

Ibrahim Mahmood Sani, a public affairs analyst and civil society advocate, has called for increased efforts from both the Chief of Defense Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, and Nigerian troops to address the surge of banditry and terrorism in the northern region of the country.

Sani issued his appeal in a statement on Wednesday, coinciding with heightened concerns regarding security in several areas of northern Nigeria. His remarks followed a recent operational visit by General Oluyede to Zamfara State, where he instructed troops to decisively combat banditry.

Supportive of the military’s renewed focus on tackling insecurity, Sani urged all Nigerians to unite and support the armed forces in their efforts against what he termed a common enemy. He condemned the ongoing violence and atrocities attributed to bandits, stating that such acts can no longer be tolerated.

“The Chief of Defence Staff has demonstrated that leadership is not exercised from afar,” Sani noted. “His presence in Zamfara, engagement with troops, and clear directive that Nigeria must be secured at all costs send a strong message that the era of hesitation is over.”

Sani emphasized that the fight against banditry is a long-term commitment and expressed optimism about the military leadership’s focus on operational effectiveness and troop welfare.
