A U.S.-based policy advisory and lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, has disclosed a new declaration from the Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria. The firm reported that a sworn statement submitted by the FBI to a federal court in the United States indicates that Tinubu was the subject of a criminal investigation related to drug trafficking.
On Monday, Von Batten-Montague-York shared details through its verified X account, noting that portions of the FBI’s declaration were released after the firm received a substantial volume of records, which are currently undergoing review and necessary redaction.
According to the firm, the FBI confirmed under oath that a criminal investigation involving Tinubu had been officially recognized by the court. The declaration specified that the investigation was associated with heroin trafficking.
The FBI’s statement indicated that the documents were gathered as part of a broader inquiry into the drug trafficking activities of several individuals. Von Batten-Montague-York asserted that the release of these documents aims to refute claims that Tinubu had never been subject to a criminal investigation and was merely leveraging legal protections to safeguard his privacy.
“The claims are false as the FBI’s sworn declaration contradicted them,” the firm stated.
