Mayowa Lambe issues cease-and-desist notice to Roby Ekpo, demands N100 million in damages
Cease-and-Desist Notice Issued Amid Public Dispute Between Media Personality and Ex-Wife
Mayowa Lambe has served her ex-husband, Roby Ekpo, a cease-and-desist notice following comments he made regarding their marriage.
The notice comes shortly after Ekpo expressed his emotions during an appearance on the Honest Bunch podcast. He became visibly upset after learning that Lambe had married another man abroad without finalizing their divorce.
Ekpo alleged that he supported Lambe during her relocation overseas while struggling with fertility issues. He claimed she secretly used contraceptives throughout their 11-year marriage, which left him heartbroken, especially upon discovering images of her wedding on social media.
In response to the situation, Lambe’s legal representative, Chinedu Nwaneli, stated that the cease-and-desist notice demands Ekpo retract his statements, remove online posts related to the claims within 48 hours, and apologize. Additionally, he is required to pay 100 million Naira in damages for defamation or face potential legal action.
“We have formally issued a cease-and-desist notice on behalf of Ms. Mayowa Lambe regarding false and defamatory statements being circulated publicly. It’s important to clarify that there is no existing marital relationship, and there is verifiable evidence to refute these claims,” Nwaneli said.
Reports indicate that Lambe and Ekpo met through social media in 2015, following a brief courtship that led to their marriage a few months later.
The unfolding situation has captured public attention, with social media users reacting to Ekpo’s emotional disclosure, some criticizing Lambe’s actions while others are seeking her perspective on the matter.
