Police arrest two over killing of NYSC member in Benue

Police Arrest Two in Connection with NYSC Member’s Death in Benue State
Benue State authorities have taken two suspects into custody following the fatal beating of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Mr. Benjamin Msughaondo. The incident, which is reportedly linked to a false allegation of motorcycle theft, occurred late Sunday night near the Major settlement area adjacent to the Buruku Local Government Secretariat.
Benue State Police Command spokesperson DSP Edet Udeme confirmed the situation on Friday in Makurdi. She stated that Msughaondo was accused by individuals of stealing a motorcycle. Without any verification of the claim, he was subsequently attacked by a mob.
Initial investigations indicate that the allegations against Msughaondo were unfounded, as evidence presented during the inquiry suggests that he was the legitimate owner of the motorcycle in question.
Udeme reported that two individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident, while efforts are underway to locate an additional suspect who remains at large.
“He was wrongly accused of stealing a motorcycle and was mobbed to death without any verification,” Udeme stated. She reassured the public that law enforcement is intensifying efforts to apprehend all suspects involved and to ensure they face justice.
