Liverpool’s Salah to Miss Remainder of Premier League Season Due to Hamstring Injury

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah will be sidelined for the remainder of the Premier League season after suffering a hamstring tear during a 3-1 victory against Crystal Palace, according to Ibrahim Hassan, the director of Egypt’s national football team.
Liverpool has not provided an official update on the condition of the 33-year-old player. However, Hassan confirmed on Saturday that Salah has likely played his final match for the club, having announced his intention to leave at the end of the season.
“The injury requires four weeks of treatment,” Hassan told Reuters.
Salah was injured in the 60th minute of Saturday’s match and was seen applauding the crowd as he exited the field.
“It’s another win and another injury; it’s been the story of our season,” Liverpool manager Arne Slot remarked to the BBC. “It’s too early to assess the extent of the injury, but we all know how difficult it is for Mo to leave the pitch.”
After nine successful seasons with Liverpool, Salah’s tenure is nearing an end. He plans to address fans after the final match against Brentford, concluding a period marked by numerous accolades.
Liverpool has two home matches remaining—against Chelsea on May 9 and Brentford on May 24—and will also face Manchester United away on May 3, and Aston Villa on May 17. Salah, the club’s third-highest goal scorer, has contributed 12 goals and nine assists this season.
Despite the injury, Hassan expressed confidence that Salah will be fit in time for the 2026 World Cup, where Egypt is set to face Belgium, New Zealand, and Iran in Group G. Salah is determined to recover quickly to avoid setbacks similar to those he experienced before the 2018 tournament, where he sustained a shoulder injury prior to Egypt’s group stage exit.
