BREAKING: Wike’s ally, ex-PDP vice chair, Dan Orbih dies at 64
Former Edo State Peoples Democratic Party Chairman Chief Dan Osi Orbih has died. He passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, according to family sources.
Lere Olayinka, Chief Press Secretary to the Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, confirmed the news via a post on social media. The announcement, made by family member Francis Udukhomoi Orbih, expressed deep sadness and noted that the family is mourning this significant loss.
In their announcement titled “In Loving Memory,” the family stated, “With profound sadness and a heavy heart but in total submission to the will of the almighty God, the family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih announces the passing of our beloved brother, husband, father, and uncle, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, who passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026.”
Orbih is survived by his wife, Mrs. Florence Orbih, and two daughters, Ms. Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr. Mildred Omonemi Orbih. He is also survived by his siblings and extended family members. The family requests that friends and well-wishers keep them in their prayers during this difficult time, stating that further details about arrangements will be announced in due course.
Prior to his death, Orbih served as the Chairman of the Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma. He was known as a close ally of Minister Wike. Orbih was born on October 27, 1961, in Ogbona, Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State.
