Teenager stabs man to death during argument in Cross River

A 20-year-old man, Uwem Daniel Akpan, was fatally stabbed following an altercation with a 16-year-old boy in Awi, located in the Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The stabbing occurred around 7:30 p.m., after which Akpan was transported to the Naval Reference Hospital in Calabar, where he was later pronounced dead.
The police have taken the 16-year-old suspect, whose name has not been released due to his age, into custody. The family of the deceased has since recovered Akpan’s body.
Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata confirmed the incident and stated that the police have begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Akpan’s death.
“We are looking into the details of the incident and the alleged involvement of the suspect,” Akata said.
He also indicated that the case would be forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Calabar for further investigation and potential legal action.
The police urged the public to avoid taking matters into their own hands, assuring them that the investigation will be conducted thoroughly.
