Lagos driver remanded over alleged abduction, defilement of 14-year-old

Driver Remanded in Custody Amid Allegations of Abduction and Defilement
Ikeja, Nigeria — A 34-year-old driver, Segun Falola, has been ordered to remain at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre after appearing in court on charges of abducting and defiling a 14-year-old girl. The ruling was issued on Tuesday by Chief Magistrate C.M. Kushanu, who did not take Falola’s plea during the proceedings.
The court ordered Falola to be held until September 30, awaiting legal counsel from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Prosecutor Adegoke Ademigbuji informed the court that the alleged offenses took place between April 3 and April 24 in the Alakuko area of Lagos State. According to Ademigbuji, Falola abducted the victim while she was en route from Alakuko to Agege.
The prosecutor further alleged that the defendant enticed the girl into a residence, where she was sexually assaulted. Law enforcement officials tracked the victim’s phone to Oyo State, leading to Falola’s arrest, where it was believed she was being kept.
Falola, who resides at 1 Adepoju Street in Alakuko, faces charges under Sections 137 and 268 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015. The court has scheduled the next proceedings for September 30.
