2027: APC will fail integrity, credibility test — ADC chieftain

ADC Chieftain Predicts APC Government Will Face Backlash in 2027 Elections

A prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ladan Salihu, has asserted that the federal government, led by the All Progressives Congress (APC), will succumb to public anger and frustration during the 2027 general elections.

Salihu voiced his concerns during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics program, offering a critical assessment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration as the next electoral cycle approaches.

“In terms of credible elections and integrity, this government will not pass the test at the polls,” Salihu stated, underscoring a growing dissatisfaction among Nigerian voters. “This government will not withstand the anger and frustrations of the Nigerian people.”

The ADC chieftain also intensified calls for the resignation or removal of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan. Salihu accused him of failing to meet both integrity and competency standards—allegations that INEC has refuted, maintaining its chairman’s neutrality.

“Amupitan should resign or be removed because, in public service today, he is a persona non grata,” Salihu said. He criticized Amupitan for not acting as the impartial arbiter that a diverse nation of 250 million deserves. “His actions, utterances, and conduct scandalize every person with integrity in Nigeria,” he added.

When asked about the possibility of the ADC boycotting the elections should Amupitan remain in office, Salihu refrained from providing a clear answer. “The election is our constitutional responsibility as the leading opposition movement. When we reach that point, we will make a decision,” he stated, hinting at a potential escalation of their campaign for Amupitan’s removal.

Despite the APC controlling 31 states and holding a majority in the National Assembly, Salihu claimed that the ruling party is unsettled by the growing momentum of the opposition.

“They may have 31 governors and control of both the Senate and the House, but they lack the trust of the people,” he asserted, expressing confidence that the ADC will emerge victorious in the 2027 elections.
