Libya journey: Nigerian cobbler arrested for stealing motorcycle in Edo

Nigerien Cobbler Arrested in Edo State Over Motorcycle Theft
Edo State Security Corps (ESSC) has arrested Ali Musa, a Nigerian national and itinerant cobbler, in connection with the theft of a motorcycle.
Authorities allege that Musa intended to steal the vehicle to finance his journey abroad. Reports indicate he had previously contacted a trafficker who promised to facilitate his passage to Libya but lacked the necessary funds for the trip.
According to sources, Musa entered a residence in Benin City around 4 a.m. on April 28, 2026, and took the motorcycle. He was apprehended during a routine patrol while attempting to sell the stolen vehicle.
Upon questioning, Musa was unable to provide satisfactory answers or identify the motorcycle’s owner.
Deputy Corps Commander Richard Balogun confirmed the arrest and stated that the case has been forwarded to the police for prosecution, asserting that individuals with criminal intent will have no refuge in the state.
