Many musicians far more talented than me but not heard – Asake

Nigerian musician Ahmed Ololade, known professionally as Asake, recently discussed the significant influence of Lagos on his career trajectory. In a recent interview with Spotify, Asake shared that the city played a pivotal role in his personal and professional development.
After graduating from Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Asake relocated to Lagos, where he said he matured into adulthood. He noted that the vibrant atmosphere of the city has also been a source of inspiration for much of his music.
“Lagos taught me how to live like a man. It inspired most of my songs,” Asake stated.
He expressed gratitude for the global recognition of his talent, acknowledging the presence of many other gifted artists who may not yet have received similar attention.
“I’m happy because there are a lot of people who make music out there and a lot of people who are more talented than me,” he said. “I’m thankful to God that I’m able to use the talent He gave me—not only locally but also globally. So for that, I give all thanks to God.”
