SWAT Operatives Arrest Two Suspects in Ogun State Theft Incident

Ogun State Police Command’s SWAT unit arrested two suspects Thursday morning following a theft at a dairy farm in Omitoro, Ifo/Ibogun. The stolen cow, valued at approximately 1.7 million naira, was recovered during the operation.

The suspects, identified as Muhammed Monsur and Olaseinde Olatunji, are reportedly part of a four-man gang that invaded the farm around 2:30 a.m. According to police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the arrests were prompted by a distress call from the farm.

Upon receiving the alert, SWAT operatives swiftly mobilized to the scene and apprehended the suspects as they attempted to flee in a mini bus known locally as ‘Korope’. In addition to the cow, authorities recovered a knife and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime.

“The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday,” Babaseyi stated in a release. “Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects are part of a larger gang, with two additional accomplices still at large.”

Investigations are ongoing, and efforts are being made to locate and arrest the remaining suspects. State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, praised the quick action of the operatives and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to combatting crime in the region.
