NDLEA Arrests Suspected Drug Dealer in Kano Raid

KANO, Nigeria — The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano Strategic Command announced the arrest of a suspected drug dealer during a raid at the Audu Bako Secretariat as part of its ongoing “Operation Sharar Mafaka.”

According to a statement from the agency, operatives acted on intelligence to target illegal drug activities within the secretariat. Upon noticing the officers, the suspect attempted to evade capture by climbing to the second floor of a building and jumping down, but he was apprehended immediately.

The NDLEA reported that a quantity of Cannabis sativa was recovered from the individual, who was subsequently taken to the command office for further investigation and potential prosecution. The suspect, identified as a car washer, reportedly admitted to participating in the drug trade for approximately two years.

Officials involved in the operation credited their quick response with ensuring that evidence was preserved during the arrest. CN D.Y. Lawal, commander of the NDLEA Kano Strategic Command, emphasized that government facilities should not be used as venues for illegal activities.

“This is a warning to all those who believe government establishments can be used as a hideout for their illicit activities,” Lawal stated.

The NDLEA confirmed that Operation Sharar Mafaka is ongoing, with continued efforts to dismantle drug networks throughout Kano State and bring offenders to justice.
