China Urges Ceasefire and Reopening of Strait Ahead of Trump Visit
BEIJING (AP) — China’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Fu Cong, emphasized the urgency of maintaining a ceasefire and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, highlighting these issues as critical ahead of President Donald Trump’s forthcoming visit to Beijing.
Fu stated that if the Strait remains closed during Trump’s visit, the matter will become a key topic of discussion. The ambassador did not elaborate on specific actions China might take if the situation persists.
This comes as tensions in the region continue to affect global shipping and security. The reopening of the Strait, a vital corridor for international oil shipments, is essential for stabilizing both the regional economy and energy markets worldwide.
