Three Dead in Ibadan-Lagos Expressway Accident

Ibadan, Nigeria — A road accident on Sunday afternoon along the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway has resulted in the deaths of three men. The crash occurred at approximately 1:04 p.m. in the Oniworo area and involved a blue Lexus Jeep with the registration number GGE 18 JV and an unregistered black Boxer motorcycle.

A statement from Odunsi Afolabi, Public Relations Officer for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector, reported that a total of eight individuals were involved in the incident. One person sustained injuries, while the remaining four were unharmed.

Afolabi indicated that excessive speed was likely the cause of the crash, leading to a tyre burst. He noted, “Total involved: eight (all male adults). Injured: one male adult; three killed. Suspected causes: speed violation and tyre burst.” The FRSC rescue team from the Ogunmakin Unit Command responded within five minutes of the alert, which came in at 1:06 p.m.

The injured individual was transported to Victory Hospital in Ogere for treatment, and the bodies of the deceased were taken to the FOS Morgue in Ipara.

Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, the Sector Commander, extended condolences to the families of the victims and urged motorists to adhere to speed limits and regularly check the condition of their tyres.
