Nigerian Army Neutralizes Nine Terrorists in Katsina and Zamfara Operations

Troops from Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have reported the neutralization of nine terrorists, including two key figures, during recent operations in Katsina and Zamfara states. The operations also yielded the recovery of four AK-47 rifles and nine motorcycles.

Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, detailed the operations in a statement. In Katsina State, personnel from the Forward Operating Base Fudma neutralized four terrorists, seizing two AK-47 rifles along with magazines, ammunition, two motorcycles, seven mobile phones, and 153,000 naira.

In a separate operation in Zamfara State between May 2 and 3, troops from the Forward Operating Base Bagega conducted a significant operation in the Anka Local Government Area. This effort led to the neutralization of seven terrorists, including two identified kingpins, Anaruwa and Gomina.

During this operation, troops received reinforcements from various combat teams and executed precision airstrikes, successfully repelling an additional wave of eight terrorists on four motorcycles. This engagement resulted in the neutralization of three terrorists and the confiscation of two AK-47 rifles with loaded magazines, as well as seven motorcycles.

A follow-up operation on May 3 encountered two more terrorists on motorbikes in the same area, who were neutralized quickly. However, the operations were not without cost, as one military personnel lost their life during the engagements.
