Man allegedly kills 16-year-old girl, dumps body in Ogun river

Ogun Police Arrest Suspect in Kidnapping and Murder of 16-Year-Old
Operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the alleged abduction and murder of 16-year-old Adegbaaju Florence. The incident occurred in the Ogijo area of Sagamu Local Government.
The suspect, identified as Bayegun Nathaniel, reportedly demanded and received a ransom of 500,000 Naira before allegedly killing the victim and discarding her body in a local river.
In a statement to DAILY POST on Tuesday, police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed that Nathaniel was apprehended following a series of intelligence-led operations.
“The incident took place on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at around 5:00 PM, when the victim was abducted in Ogijo. Upon receiving reports, our command quickly activated its Anti-Kidnapping response mechanism and launched a coordinated investigation,” Babaseyi stated. “Through ongoing intelligence gathering and strategic operations, detectives arrested the suspect on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at approximately 2:00 PM.”
Babaseyi noted that efforts are underway to locate and recover the victim’s remains for forensic examination. Investigators are committed to a thorough inquiry to ensure justice is served.
Ogun State Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and reaffirmed the police department’s dedication to protecting lives and holding those responsible for violent crimes accountable.
