Ijesa Community Development Assembly Announces Passing of Oba Adeyemi Akanbi Adediran
The Ijesa Community Development Assembly (ICDA) has confirmed the death of Oba Adeyemi Akanbi Adediran, the Owamiran of Esa-Oke. The announcement came in a statement issued by Olayinka Fasuyi, the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, on Wednesday.
The monarch passed away on May 6, 2026. The ICDA described this loss as a moment of “deep sorrow,” acknowledging the late king as a custodian of culture and a unifying figure in both Esa-Oke and the broader Ijesaland.
During his reign, Oba Adediran was noted for his dignity, wisdom, and commitment to peace and development within his community. The statement characterized him as “a monarch of quiet strength and thoughtful leadership” who fulfilled his duties with honor.
The late traditional ruler was instrumental in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Esa-Oke. He provided stability during uncertain times and played a reassuring role during communal challenges. Beyond his traditional obligations, Oba Adediran was actively involved in initiatives aimed at improving education, social harmony, and community development.
The ICDA further remarked that his leadership strengthened communal ties and fostered unity among the residents of Esa-Oke. His contributions extended beyond his immediate domain to support the broader development of Ijesaland.
In light of this loss, the assembly has extended its condolences to the royal family, the people of Esa-Oke, the Obokun Local Government Traditional Rulers Council, and Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland.
