Six killed in Zamfara roadside explosion


At least six individuals were killed and six others injured when an improvised explosive device detonated along the Bagega-Anka road in Zamfara State on Thursday morning.

The explosion occurred around 9 a.m. as a commercial vehicle transporting passengers traversed the Anka Local Government Area. Witnesses reported that the device, believed to have been planted by suspected bandits, detonated as the vehicle passed.

The blast severely damaged the vehicle and disrupted movement in the vicinity. Some passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, while others sustained serious injuries and were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Yazid Abubakar, the spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, confirmed the death toll and the number of injured. He also stated that security personnel have been dispatched to the area and that normal activities have resumed.
