Nigerian Police Arrest Eight Suspected Kidnappers Following Operation in Nasarawa State

The Nigeria Police Force announced a significant advancement in its campaign against kidnapping and violent crime with the arrest of eight individuals suspected of involvement in recent criminal activities.

In a statement released by Deputy Commissioner of Police Anthony Okon Placid, the arrests occurred during a coordinated security operation in Rukubi Community, located in Doma Local Government Area, Nasarawa State. This operation was prompted by a distress report received on the morning of May 7, 2026, concerning an attack that transpired the previous night. Armed assailants reportedly invaded the community, firing weapons and instilling fear among residents.

During the raid, the suspects are alleged to have stormed the homes of two individuals, kidnapping them for an undisclosed location. Following the report, police operatives from the Nasarawa State Command, along with other security agencies and local youth, rapidly mobilized to the area, leading to the apprehension of the eight suspects.

The detained individuals, identified as Adamu Alfa, Muhammed Alfa, Shuaibu Alfa, Usman Alfa, Ali Alfa, Isa Alfa, another Adamu Alfa, and Ja’afaru Alfa, all hail from Rugan Alhaji Alfa in Rukubi Village. Law enforcement officials recovered two AK-47 rifles, four Bajaj motorcycles, and two spent 7.62mm ammunition shells believed to be associated with the incident during the operation.

Additionally, the police reported that one of the suspects sustained fatal injuries during the encounter and later died while receiving medical treatment.

Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu praised the professionalism and courage of the officers involved, calling the success a testament to the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and collaborative efforts among various security agencies. He also expressed gratitude to community members and local vigilante groups for their essential support, which played a crucial role in the operation’s success.
