Details have emerged regarding the death of Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo. The news of his passing has shocked fans and colleagues throughout the film industry.

Nollywood filmmaker Stanley Ontop provided insight into the circumstances surrounding Ekubo’s death, revealing that the actor had been privately battling stage 4 liver cancer since 2024. In a post shared on his Instagram account, Ontop explained that after undergoing a liver transplant, Ekubo faced complications when the organ failed again. This deterioration ultimately led to his passing.

Stanley urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information about the cause of Ekubo’s illness. “We request that everyone allow Alex to rest in peace and respect the privacy of his family during this difficult time,” he stated.

He added, “Alex was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer in 2024. After treatment and a liver transplant, he briefly returned to work. Unfortunately, the liver failed again, leading to complications that resulted in his passing.” Ekubo’s remains have been moved to the morgue, as his family navigates this challenging period.
