One Dead, Two Injured in Armed Clash in Bauchi
BAUCHI — A clash between armed men and residents in the Unguwan Marke area of Munsal Ward, Liman Katagum District, left one person dead and two others injured on Saturday morning.
The incident, reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X, unfolded around 9:30 a.m. when a group of armed individuals, allegedly masquerading as members of a hunters’ association, approached the community with the intent to remove the roof from a building owned by Isah Garba, a resident of Balakum village in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
Tensions escalated when local youths confronted the armed group, leading to a violent exchange. The armed men reportedly opened fire when challenged.
During the confrontation, Sani Hassan was shot in the leg, and another victim from Shinge village sustained a gunshot wound to his hand. Mubarak Adamu, the third victim, died at the scene.
Police officials transported the injured individuals to the Specialist Hospital in Bauchi, where medical staff confirmed Adamu’s death. His body was released to his family for burial.
Sources indicated that the armed group claimed to be acting on an eviction order allegedly issued by a Bauchi High Court, though the legitimacy of this claim and the use of firearms are currently under investigation.
Authorities have initiated an investigation to identify and apprehend those involved in the incident.
