One Dead, Two Injured in Late-Night Attack in Zamfara State
One person has been confirmed dead, and two others sustained injuries during a late-night attack in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. on May 17, 2026, according to security sources. Troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Bingi responded to a distress call regarding an assault on Dan Jugku village.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the 1 Brigade Combat Team swiftly arrived at the scene, where they discovered that three residents had been shot. One victim was pronounced dead at the site of the attack, while the two injured individuals were transported to a clinic in Bingi for medical treatment.
Authorities have intensified security patrols in nearby communities to restore calm and prevent further incidents. Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the assailants.
